I took Art as a subject at school. So, since school I had an interest in Art.
I studied Teaching, and never actually could find the time for painting as a hobby. Though my creativity came in handy while teaching. I devote quite a lot of time on my painting now, since my retirement in 2007.
I started painting seriously in 1995 in Ceres, when I took private lessons for 2 years. I started with Watercolours, which has taught me a lot of discipline. During this time, I was a member of CERES ARTISTS GILD, and we had exhibitions as far as Cape Town.
After the two years, I used my natural ability and started painting on my own. I produced quite a few watercolour paintings, of which I sold a number.
Then I started experimenting with Acrylics, which I find suit my personality best. The paint dries very quickly, which I prefer. I am most comfortable with painting in Acrylics. Strong vibrant colours in romantic style is a big feature of my paintings.
Now Monica Bonthuys is my mentor. I am a member of VERMONT ART CIRCLE. My paintings can be seen on their website.
